Wanta & Son, a leader among some of Central Wisconsin's top commercial and industrial construction and contracting businesses, once came from humble beginnings

Randy Wanta, owner of Wanta & Son, grew up around the construction trade. He, and his three brothers helped their dad Joe Wanta with his rural construction business. In 1975, 19-year-old Randy Wanta faced a tough decision following the death of his father, Joe Wanta. The last of four sons to remain in the family rural construction business - his three older brothers having left one-by-one to form their own construction companies - he had to choose between continuing the family business or seeking a career opportunity elsewhere. Randy Wanta chose to continue the legacy.

Valuing what his father built, and in the ensuing 43 years under the guidance of Randy, the company has expanded from primarily a dairy barn contractor to a post and metal-frame builder constructing everything from farm buildings to industrial, municipal, and commercial turnkey facilities.

Under Randy's direction, the company has seen the annual sales grow steadily and become about twenty-five times that of what it was in 1975. Now, with his son, Ryan Wanta, Randy continues to look toward the future.

Over the past fourty years, Randy has served on several boards including:

  • Wisconsin Frame Builders Board of Directors.

  • National Frame Builders Board of Directors.

  • Star Building Systems Presidents Advisory Council.
